Make your own slab built lantern with Anne Barrell at the Sussex Guild Shop in Lewes. Ready in time for Christmas this beautiful lantern can be part of your decorations or a special gift. Enjoy a fabulous three hours in this fun and creative workshop, with plenty of tea or coffee and biscuits.
Using a paper template, you will roll out clay slabs and under guidance join them to make the base and lid. You will be shown how to join the seams, create the three dimensional form, cut out shapes, and even make a robin to pop on the top of the lid. You can add some colour to the white clay with special ceramic underglaze paints. Small groups mean lots of personal help.
You will have lots of opportunity to add your own signature style to the design if you wish, with expert guidance on achieving a great finished piece. The finished lanterns will be fired twice, with a clear shiny glaze added to make the colours sing.
You can collect the finished work 2-3 weeks later from Lewes or Eastbourne, or they can be posted to your address for an additional £5.
