This large vessel can be used as a vase or as a sculptural piece. It is handbuilt from red earthenware clay, creating a sensitive and tactile form with a rounded belly. The painted narrative continues around the vessel, making the piece tell a story from all angles. 
 
The layering of slips, oxides and underglazes creates a depth to the surface, with the red clay glowing warmly through the scratched in sgraffito decoration, and from below the layers of slips and glazes.
